Prior to 1933 when the Triton Mine was opened, few people lived in the area where Reedy was located. The town was gazetted in 1934. The former church at Nannine was moved to Reedy and opened in 1940 as St Wilfred's Church. The church was closed in December 1948 when the population dwindled after the mine closed.
